May 2008 - Compost - Living Soil, Lorraine Farm, Elgin

The club met at Lorraine Farm, Elgin/Grabouw, for a talk about "living soil".

Mike, an organic farmer of apples and pears showed us around his beautiful garden (which featured last year on the Elgin Open Gardens route).

The garden has beautiful views and has a natural rockface and waterfall and many points of interest.

He also gave an in-depth talk about living soil - how he makes it (different types!) and how he uses it on his farm in caring and nuturing his fruit - and garden plants

They also gave us much needed cups of tea and coffee!
