Tucked into the Jonkershoek Valley, and with the old Cape Dutch Manor house backing it,
Una's gorgeous garden is a sight to behold with all the azaleas in Spring, and roses in Summer.
When we visited in July, the magnolia trees were blossoming - stunning!
Una explained to us why roses are so wonderful – blooming for 8 months of the year – and how to care for them. This included advice on feeding, pest and disease control, and of course – pruning!
We were all set to practise on Una’s own roses – some of which are 60 years old! (A brave lady indeed!)
Lots of fun was had by all, and Una’s roses were all looking a lot shorter (and more healthy!) because of it.
We also managed to raise R580 from the R30 donation “fee” – which Una will give to the Children’s Welfare Organisation (here in Stellenbosch).
